1. How do I switch on my OPTAC tool?
Please make sure that the batteries are properly inserted in the tool. Then
leave your finger on the Switch On Button for a few seconds. The Tool
should switch on: if it still does not, please repeat the same action with new
batteries. If you are still having troubles switching on the tool, please
contact our support team.
2. What do the buttons on my OPTAC tool mean?
This button enables you to download all the information on a particular
vehicle. This is the option you should choose if it is the first download you
are doing for this vehicle.

This button enables you to do a partial download. It will collect the
information recorded since the last download.

This button enables you to download drivers' cards.

This button switches the tool on/off.
3. I am using the software for the first time.
What is the user name and password?
When you start using the software, the user name is: admin and the password is:
admin. Once you have logged in, you will then be asked to change the password.
Please make sure it is something you can remember
4. I can’t remember my user name and password
When you try for the third time you will be prompted with a secret code. Please
email this code to helpdesk@stoneridge.com or email us a screenshot of it. If
you would like us to call you, please include your phone number in the email.
We will then contact you with your correct password.
5. How do I transfer data from the OPTAC Tool to
the OPTAC software?
a) Switch on the Optac Tool by holding down the button on the right for a few
seconds.
b) Connect the Optac Tool to the computer using to the USB cable provided.
c) Give the computer a minute or two to find the new hardware.
d) Double click on the Optac icon on your desktop and input your user name and
password. Right-click the "Log In" button once.
e) Select the "Data Center" Icon (Represented by an OPTAC tool image).
f) Select "Optac Download Tool" and click the "Next" button.
g) Click the "Browse" button.
h) Under "My computer" choose the removable disk named "Optac Tool".
i) Click "OK" and then "Next".
j) A list of files comes up. Select the ones you want to download.
k) Click on the "Next" button.
l) Select "Yes", and click "Next".
m) Once the download is done, click the "Finish" button.
6. I can't seem to download – how do I get the digital data from my vehicle?
Please make sure that the company card is in the first slot of the digital
tachograph.
Then switch on the Optac Tool and connect it to the tachograph.
Press the button to start downloading:

Press this button if you want to download all the information on the vehicle.
(This is the option you will choose if it is the first download you are doing
for this vehicle.)
Press this button if you want to do a partial download. (It will collect the
information recorded since the last download.)

Four green LED's will be flashing to indicate that the tool is downloading.
If the download is successful, one green light will come on. You can then
unplug the cable and take the company card out of the tachograph.
If the download is not successful, the tool will show a red light.
Please make sure that cables are properly plugged in and try again. If the
download fails again, please contact our support team (see contact details at
the top of this page).
7. My OPTAC Tool shows 4 red LEDs, what should I
do?
Please contact the Support Team on 0870 887 9256 so we can help you fix this
issue. In the meantime, the OPTAC download tool can still download information.
8. Should I back up my data?
We advise that you do a back up on a regular basis. Please do not save it onto
the same computer you use to run the software. We highly recommend saving your
data onto a CD or a memory stick, which is stored in a different location. This
will help to prevent you from losing information in case of fire or theft.
9. How do I do a back up?
Click on the “Maintenance” icon located in the bottom left of the software
screen. Select backup database, then proceed by clicking “Next” and follow the
steps.
10. I don’t have a company card: where can I
get one?
DVLA can provide you with a company card. To find your nearest office, please
visit the
DVLA website.
11. How do I email the Support team through the
software?
Click on the “Help” icon (Question mark) located in the bottom right of the
software. Select “contact Stoneridge Electronics via email” and click “Next”,
this will open your default email program.
